Right-Wing Militia Leader Revealed As Felon; Arrested On Weapons Charges
KC Massey, leader of the right wing ammosexual militia at Camp Lonestar, was arrested Monday on a charge of possession of a weapon by a felon.
Massey was convicted of burglary charges in 1988. His Tea Party group of xenophobes which has been patrolling the Mexican Border near Brownsville Texas made headlines earlier this month when they detained some immigrants caught crossing the Rio Grande.
Massey is not the first member of the group to run afoul of the law. In September, Stephen Kurt Brooks was arrested for not having a concealed handgun license after he left his weapon in the restroom at a store. Another member tried to claim the weapon and was charged with making a false police report.
Another member, John Frederick Foerster, was fired on by a Border Patrol officer and subsequently arrested on charges similar to Massey’s. At that time, Massey commented,
“After five years he is legal to have a weapon in private property.”
Unfortunately for both Foerster and himself, Massey is wrong about the law. That exception applies only to his own home.
From the time the organization set up operations on private property in the Brownsville area, local residents have been concerned.
“We don’t know who they are,” said Maria Cordero, a community organizer for the ACLU. “Do they have criminal records? People are afraid, but more than that they are confused.”
It appears those fears were more than justified. For a group founded on enforcing our laws concerning immigration, they don’t seem to be very much concerned with the rest of our laws.
