Molotov Cocktail Thrown Into Black Congressman’s Missouri Office (VIDEO)

The Hill blog is reporting that;

A Molotov cocktail was thrown through the window of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s (D-Missouri) district office at around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.

The makeshift bomb did not explode, and the The Kansas City Police and Kansas City Bomb and Arson Squad is investigating.

Rep. Cleaver, an African-American, was an outspoken critic of police tactics during recent civic upheaval in Ferguson, Mo. following the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, also an African-American. Ferguson is about 240 miles away from Cleaver’s office.

Although Cleaver is downplaying the incident and does not think the attack was related to the Ferguson protests, The Hill also reports that Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) is demanding a thorough investigation into the potential hate crime, saying in a statement;

“The Congressional Black Caucus strongly condemns this type of vandalism targeted at Congressman Cleaver, and denounces any act of violence towards Members of Congress. This type of abhorrent behavior is the most ineffective means of voicing discontent or disagreement.”
