Bernie Sanders Blasts Ted Cruz As Supporter Of “Oligarchy” (VIDEO)
On MSNBC’s The Ed Show, host Ed Shultz destroyed Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) who is credited by all sides as orchestrating the recent government shut-down that cost the U.S. economy $24 billion dollars – as “the gift that keeps on giving” for liberals, calling him “America’s biggest heckler from the stands.”
Properly portraying Cruz as a fake who is nothing but a paid mouthpiece for The Koch Brothers, Shultz pointed out that in all of Cruz’s well-publicized efforts to derail the Affordable Care Act;
“not once has he stepped up and given a solution to the 50 million Americans who don’t have health care.”
Even prominent Republican politicians have decried the Texas Senator as a “fraud” who was engaged in “governmental terrorism.”
During the segment on Monday, Shultz asked guest Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I) to discuss Cruz’s blockage of Tom Wheeler, President Obama’s choice to head up the Federal Communications Commission.
At the heart of Cruz’s opposition is Wheelers support for the Disclose Act, which as Time magazine writes “would require super PACS, corporations, unions and other outside groups to disclose to the Federal Elections Commission when they spend more than $10,000 to air political campaign ads.”
The DISCLOSE Act draws wide support among liberals and progressives. Republicans? Not so much.
Senator Sanders, never one to mince words, got right to it:
“…Ultimately what (Republicans) are about is creating a campaign finance system where billionaires can spend unlimited sums of money on campaigns and candidates (without public disclosure)… That is not – in my view – a democracy, that is called “oligarchy,” where a nation is run by a handful of billionaires, and the democratic foundations of this country are subverted.”
